01What it is
One map with the public information on wildfires.
Incendib is a free, non-profit web viewer of active wildfires in Spain and Portugal. It brings together public data from official and satellite sources on one clear map, built for mobile and for checking at a glance.
Official and satellite sources
Spanish regional emergency services, Portuguese Civil Protection, NASA FIRMS and EFFIS/Copernicus, together.
Built for mobile
For checking at a glance, wherever you are.
Non-profit
No ads, no tracking and no data for sale.
There is no organisation or team behind it: I make it myself, David Moreno Romero, from Ávila.
02Why
Why it is on pause
-
More and more people started using it
And traffic grew enormously.
-
Free plans have limits
Incendib runs on the free plans of the services it uses, and those plans have processing limits.
-
And I could not take on that cost
The limits were reached, and moving to a paid plan is a cost I could not take on.
-
So I have taken the app down for now
The map is unavailable while I work out how to sustain it.
-
I am working on it
Looking for the resources and the way to keep it alive without changing what it is.
03Commitment
My commitment does not change
- 01
Free
No payments or subscriptions, as before.
- 02
No ads
No adverts, no tracking, no data for sale.
- 03
Open to everyone
Anyone can use it, with no accounts or paywalls.
04Follow
It will be back. Follow us to find out when.
I will announce the return on social media.
05In the meantime
Where to check wildfires now
The information is still published at its original sources:
- EFFIS · CopernicusCurrent wildfire situation in Europe.forest-fire.emergency.copernicus.eu (opens in a new tab)
- NASA FIRMSSatellite heat detections.firms.modaps.eosdis.nasa.gov (opens in a new tab)
- fogos.ptWildfires in Portugal.fogos.pt (opens in a new tab)
A satellite detection is not a confirmed fire. In an emergency, the reference is 112 and your regional emergency service.
